The consolidation…
It’s been awhile since I’ve bought myself a new gadget. So, this time I had to make it count.
I had been looking into getting a new camera for awhile now, however I also needed a new video camera, due to my current one being on it’s way out. I have the Fuji F31d point and shoot camera, which is small and takes great pictures. As for video, I have the Sony DCR-HC32 Handycam, which can be a pain in the ass because it records onto DV tapes, which we all know you have to sit and rip in real time. No Thank you.
So I wasn’t sure which one I wanted to upgrade. It proved to be a very tough decision.
If I was going to upgrade my video camera, I don’t think I would have much trouble deciding which direction to go, I would just make sure it recorded into a format I was happy with. However, when I started to look into upgrading my point and shoot, that is when I started to have trouble. It’s a whole new world, especially for me. I have only ever had point and shoot cameras, and obviously, if I were to make the jump, I would go with a Digital SLR. However, DSLR cameras don’t have a video option and I was really looking forward to consolidating my gadgets. Well, now I can. I picked up the new Nikon D90, which has a 12.3 megapixel sensor and is the first DSLR to allow you to take high definition video at 720p. You can read more about it here if you’re jealous, I mean interested.
I’ve been having a lot of fun playing around with it recently, it’s a pleasure to use and I can’t wait to learn more about it. Until then, here’s a gallery of pictures I took for Halloween.
