The October Road Trip ‘8
![]()
The last major festival of the year here in Taiwan is a national holiday. Double ten day commemorates the anniversary of the October 10, 1911 Revolution that led to the overthrow of the corrupt Ching Dynasty and the founding of the republic of China. It is marked with grand parades, folk dances, acrobatics, dragon and lion dances and displays of martial arts. Laura and I decided to skip all of that and take some time to get to see some more of the country. We covered a lot of ground and managed to take some interesting photographs. We travelled first to a beach resort in Tungshao, then to the mountains in Miaoli. Trekked our way over to Lion’s Head mountain and journeyed through hot spring country to find us a free camping area. Check out some of the photos below.
P.S. Happy Thanksgiving!
